      - Location: Mahncke Park Community Garden, 330 Funston Pl, San Antonio, TX 78209
      Tour the Mahncke Park Community Garden and discuss the types of planting beds and areas in this newer garden. Raised beds and building materials, berms, herb and pollinator beds, and edible landscapes are all located on this site. Guests from the Bexar County Master Gardeners will discuss soils, compost manures, fertilizers and mulch. Not to be left out is a discussion of Texas Superstar plants as well as transitioning from colder to warm weather planting. Don’t forget to bring seeds and plants for the swap meet!
    • How Will your Garden Grow? (Workshop 2)

      - Location: St. John Neumann Community Garden, 6660 Crestway Dr., 78239 (Rear of church)
      St. John Neumann’s garden is new to the Green Spaces network, having been built in the fall of 2017. The Bexar County Master Gardeners will help us decide the best way to orient our garden beds and plants for optimal growth. This will include a mapping exercise, overview of Square Foot Gardening and the Three Sister’s approach to growing crops. Companion planting and symbiosis is very important as is planting to attract beneficial insects. Identifying healthy and diseased specimens is also part of the discussion, as is trellising, caging and watering.
