Land Conservation & Stewardship

Green Space Alliance owns and manages two properties that were donated in the past. One property, Bulverde Oaks Nature Preserve, is within San Antonio city limits while the other, Lockett is an hour north of town. The Land Conservation Program is able to maintain both properties thanks to the help of dedicated volunteers and groups, corporate sponsorship, donors and grant funding. We are currently working on a master plan to facilitate the development of Bulverde Oaks into a nature preserve. Follow the links below to learn more about both properties.

A land trust is a nonprofit organization that works to protect natural areas by negotiating voluntary agreements with private property owners to leave their land undeveloped in perpetuity. The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation. A land trust becomes accredited only after a rigorous process to verify the organizations meets national standards. The seal identifies land trusts that are accredited and meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent.
