Weekend Workshops
From September to May, Picture Your World hosts monthly Sunday afternoon workshops on-site at natural areas and green spaces around San Antonio. Each workshop provides families and youth, ages 8-18, opportunities to explore and photograph nature with the guidance of professional photographers and a master naturalist. Picture Your World provides the cameras, instruction, and targeted feedback for you to build a creative portfolio while sharing in a transformative experience in nature.
“When the kids are out on the trails or in the meadow or even just around the Visitor Center looking for subjects, angles, and objects they are ENGAGED. Curious, excited, attentive…they are actually hunting for stuff EVERYwhere they go. They’re looking around and discovering. THEY drive the adventure. As I see it, Picture Your World is a natural wellspring for young people’s energy and curiosity, and let’s face it…it’s pretty fun too!”

Weekday Workshops for Schools and Groups
Bring your classroom outdoors! Picture Your World offers nature photography workshops for Title 1 Elementary Schools, Scouting, Homeschool, and Non-Profit Youth Organizations. Workshops are held on-site and include a lesson on photo composition and digital camera instruction. Each student is loaned a camera and creative photo opportunities are encouraged as we embark on a guided hike, learning about and photographing nature along the way. These TEKS-based workshops are ideally suited for 4-6th grades. For more information and scheduling, contact, Carra Garza, Picture Your World Program Manager, carra@greensatx.org.
“Working with Picture Your World has been a fantastic opportunity for my students. It's an art and science experience they look forward to every year and talk about years afterward. Working with photographers and naturalists allows the students to experience the natural wonders of San Antonio through the lens of an artist, scientist, and scholar.“
